Import Motor Werks staff
Sam & Tammy Russ
Owners
Sam and Tammy took over the shop at the beginning of 2012. Since then, they have been fortunate to be supported by a great team of professionals that help them navigate the intricacies of the technical aspects of the business. They strive to learn new things daily and firmly believe that the keys to success are: 1) take care of the customers’ needs in a professional, respectful, and friendly manner, 2) take care of the employees and treat everyone as they wish to be treated and 3) everything else will fall into place if you do the right things every single day! This philosophy has served them well so far, and they are excited to see what the future holds for their business. Sam and Tammy are the owners. They each have their own areas of expertise, and they work together to ensure that the business runs smoothly. Sam takes care of the facilities management and the loaner vehicles while also handling other aspects of the company. Tammy handles all the financial aspects and provides other necessary assistance the business may need.
Michael Doherty
Michael Doherty
Service Manager
Michael has been in the automotive business for years. He started out detailing cars at a Saturn dealer and then moved to a Porsche dealer at 19, where he spent five years. After that, he became a service writer at an Audi dealer. He then moved to work at independent repair shops. He has been with us since 2008 and is an integral part of our team. Michael always goes the extra mile to ensure that the customer is happy. He is a hardworking, honest, and humble person who is always professional. We are lucky to have him on our team! Michael is a devoted husband and father to his wife Kelly and his two sons. He says he likes working here in our shop “because it’s like family here.”
David Russ
David Russ
Aesthetics Expert
David Russ is our in-house "Aesthetics Expert". His expertise is in window tint (film), paint protection and vinyl wrapping. He recently attended an intensive course in paintless dent removal and is practicing those new skills to perfect his techniques in that area. He formerly owned his own shop, Tinted Atmospheres, for several years, before he decided to come and join the family and work here at IMW. He is a father to two children, one girl and one boy. He is also a wonderful uncle to his nephew, Adam. When he isn't working, he enjoys riding his motorcycle and is always up for a trip to any beach!
Matt Newcomer
Matt Newcomer
Shop Foreman
Matt has been our shop foreman since 2008. Our version of tall, dark, and sarcastic. He is an ASE Master Technician and obtained his first auto repair training in 1999 at Universal Technical Institute in Chicago, IL. He then underwent a four-month Porsche Training program. During his time in school, he has worked as a full-time car mechanic since 1996. After that, he spent six and a half years at a Porsche dealership in Cary before working for an independent store. Matt has been working on European and Asian automobiles professionally for more than a decade. He enjoys tinkering with vintage cars in his leisure time, which is ironic. This man is working on modernizing a 1949 Chevrolet vehicle that he owns. Matt is married to Kelli, and they have two boys. We all appreciate his sarcastic wit and sharp sense of humor. Matt enjoys two things: eating and mending virtually anything. Anytime we have something that doesn’t work, we have Matt look at it. Challenges excite him. Matt enjoys working at this Cary car repair shop because of the relaxed atmosphere and customer-focused business style.
Melody McGlame
Service Provider
Melody came to work for us in January of 2023 from a local Ford dealership, but we actually met her two years ago as a customer! She brought us her 2006 BMW 325i, and we’ve been caring for it ever since. She first started as a service advisor in 2014, at her hometown Ford dealership in Tomball, Texas. She had always had interest in the automotive industry and grew up assisting her father, a passionate German car enthusiast and mechanic. She’s worked at dealers all over the country in Washington, Alabama, Louisiana, Utah and Massachusetts. She moved down here in 2020 and is ready to put down roots. In her personal time she’s just as involved with cars as her profession, attending as many events as time allows. She regularly attends Morrisville Cars and Coffee each month with her almost 4 year old son, Mason, so make sure you’re on the lookout for her red E90 if you’re there.
Kim Andrews
Kim Andrews
Office Manager
Kim originally joined our team in 2013 and came from the dealership world. Kim was born and raised right here in Cary, NC, and has been interested in cars since she was a teenager. She has been working in the industry as a service writer since 2007. Kim went to work with her husband in 2019 and rejoined us in 2022. We are so glad to have her back! She has a wide variety of excellent skills, including service writing, inventory management and accounting. She says she is not afraid to get dirty and is a tomboy at heart, which everyone at the shop agrees with! When asked what she is most passionate about, she will quickly reply “Anthony” – her son. She also loves participating in fundraising, particularly those centered around animals or children, as she says “they are the most defenseless of us all”. Her weakness – Starbucks Frappuccinos, especially the vanilla!
Bryan Dominguez
Bryan Dominguez
Technician
Bryan has been a technician since 2014 and is a factory trained Mercedes technician. He joined us in 2021 and has been tasked with learning to work on several other European and Asian lines. He even bought a Subaru this year and has been increasing his knowledge base by working on it. We here at IMW have enjoyed Bryan's friendly personality and his willingness to help anyone who may need it. He is very thorough with all of his work and has a high level of attention to detail. Bryan is very family oriented and enjoys spending time with his niece and other family members on the weekend. He also spends as much time as possible with his girlfriend, Ajay.
